Despacito is a 2017 song that was released by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi. It was the most popular streamed song across the globe within six months. In 2017, the single Despacito, which combines reggaeton with pop music, not only brought new attention to reggaeton music but also increased interest in Latin music. In 2015, there were two mostly Spanish-language songs on Billboard's Top 100 and in 2016 there were four. But during the peak of the Despacito's popularity in 2017 there were 19 mainly Spanish songs that were included in the Top 100. And in 2020 it was 41. Justin Bieber re-mixed Despacito with an English version in the year 2017 and soon after the most well-known artists began collaborating together with reggaeton groups. Drake teamed with Bad Bunny to produce MIA (2018) as well as Madonna collaborated on Medellin along with Maluma (2019). Certain reggaeton performers have criticized the shift to mainstream music in the year 2020. But a new band, Rauw Alejandro was determined to keep the development and growth of reggaeton. It was often associated with electronic dance, as well as other types.
